Only tourists in town

After buying food and tobacco we left from Valencia at 7 pm with 10 euros in our pockets. But we wasn't worried about that at all.
Last photo from Valencia.

Then at 9 pm we already opened our food bags and had a nice dinner.

We did a short day of walking with just 15 km and then went to sleep in one national park.
I'm used to sleeping with all kinds of noises but on that night i woke up a lot. Firstly because I'm used to sleeping alone and when somebody makes some kind of noise next to me i automatically wake up. So when my friend just turned in bed i was up already. And secondly there was so many ducks who didn't know how keep quiet.

Thursday we woke up late and had long breakfast so we got going a bit before 2 am.
Most of the day was just walking trough huge ghost towns with big apartment buildings and nobody living there. Even all the streets were empty.
Eventually we found one house were there was a light burning in one room.

Late in the evening we arrived in one town where people were actually living in. We went to a supermarket to buy some food with our last money. But there in the shop we met a man who paid for our food which was very nice.
Later in the evening we started seeing a lot of orange farms. And because my friend had never tried fresh oranges from the farm we picked some oranges. We walked 200 meters and then my friend says that in Estonia you would pay 2 euros for that. 10 seconds later i dropped our bolognese sauce that was worth 2 euros - Karma is a bitch.
We kept on walking until 1 am and even passed another town.

Friday actually nothing special happened on the road. Often we walked on roads so small that we were wondering if it was even the right road. And oranges were everywhere. And this time karma didn't punish us because we honestly didn't have much else.

But the road was still very nice.

Late in the evening just before Gandia we found 10 euros as well so we were very happy. But we decided that we are going to spend the night in Gandia and that we would leave Saturday afternoon.

It took some time to find the old town but when we finally found it we started celebrating. We celebrated 3000 km mark even though it was still 2998 km. But we figured that its better than to walk 2 km in the next day and then open a bottle of wine (we carried that bottle since Valencia with us).

Later we passed by one bar where some students invited us into their table. We had a drink with them and then the bar closed. Then one girl invited me to a nightclub. Meanwhile my friend was tired and decided to go to sleep.
I wasn't sure if i can get in with my bag but the security guy was very nice. He took my bag and put it behind the DJ desk. Five minutes later i went in as well. And the party was very nice. Random people bought me beers, jager and tequila shots and even gave me some money.
So at 5 am i left from the club being very drunk and even  i had more money then i had when i walked in.
And you guys cant put it on my sign because nobody even saw me with my bag.
After that i went to sleep in one main square.

Saturday morning one girl woke me up and gave me big and very hot coffee. It was even hot that i burned my fingers and got blisters. Then i went to earn some money and at noon i had to meet with my friend (we set up a place and time in the previous night). I waited him for 5 hours in a bar but he didn't show up. So i went back to earn some money. In the evening i went back to the same bar but when at 11.30 pm i still havent seen him in the most popular bar i started to worry a bit.
So i stopped a police car and asked where the police station is. I went there and they said that they haven't seen him and they even called him but his phone was out. Then the police officers offered me a place to sleep there but because it was Saturday night i preferred going back to a bar.
But still i wasn't overly worried because for us its normal.

There in the bar i met with some other people and we even celebrated one girls birthday.
Eventually i went to sleep in the main square again.

Also Saturday was a big party everywhere in Gandia. There was a huge and very fancy parade and everything.

Sunday at noon my friend called me and we got together. And by this day he has no memory about what he did on Saturday.

Sunday we did pretty much nothing. Just sat in a bar with the last 10 euros we had. And its crazy how cheap the bars are here. You can get a small beer for 40 cents and a big one for 1 euro.

Monday it was raining until noon so i got to sleep late. After that it was siesta so you cant do nothing. And in the evening i earned little bit money. Then we went to a bar were our friends were. And for the first time we spent a night together here in Gandia.

But i didn't like his sleeping place because for that you had to walk half an hour.

Tuesday i earned money again and in the evening there was nothing because our home bar was closed.
He came to my sleeping place which was just 5 minutes walk.

And today i earn money for 3 hours again until siesta (during siesta time there is nobody on the streets). And now writing the blog post again.

But we have stayed here for so long because we really like this place. Its a small typical Spanish town. The people here are very nice. And because its off season time, we are pretty much the only tourist here and many locals know us. Plus the English here is non existing so Ive been getting a lot of Spanish practise.
And my friend has had enough from the walking so from now on he will take buses and trains and i will still keep on walking.
And we are leaving today.

So far 2998 km.

Living in the moment

I'm going to write a blog post just 24 hours since the last one just because i have a feeling to do so. And actually its good because you get way more info, but still some smaller things are out.

Yesterday after the blog post we went to decathlon to upgrade my friend gear a little bit. But even that was a bit problematic because we were with pack backs and they didn't allow to leave them there and also it wasn't allowed to go in with them. So while my fiend went in to buy a tent (because of all the nasty venomous animals who live here and with who you dont want share a bed) i was waiting him outside. Later i went back in to choose the sticks, camel backs and some other smaller stuff to buy. And then he went in to pay for those. All together it took about 2 and a half hours while a normal person could do it in half an hour,

Anyway after that we were hungry and i had heard about one very cheap and good kebab place. So we tracked it down and bought some seriously good food. First i had some difficulties explaining him how big are the dishes and we should get only one for both and not two. But we got just one and we payed 7 euros for this (without drinks). And we got a good full stomach.

After that we headed to supermarket to buy some drinks. And its impossible to buy wine with this guy because he is a sommelier. Well it took a while but we got 3 bottles of seriously good wine and a twelve pack for Estonians.
Then we went to a park and handed over the beers and drank one bottle of wine with Kenneth (my friend). Half an hour later the British girl called and we got together. Firstly we wanted to go to one cheap bar but unfortunately it was closed. Then we went to another bar but it turned out that they only sell beer and shots which wasn't good for us. And finally a third bar was good enough for us.

First when we walked in we ordered a bottle of wine with me, my part was trying to help with the translations. Then we sat in the table and Kenneth wanted to order some snacks. But his Spanish and their English was so bad that he accidentally ordered pretty much the whole menu.

While we were drinking our wine the waiter kept on bringing those dishes. And it only stopped because we asked them to stop bringing them.

But we had a very good night in the bar and we even ordered another bottle.

At one moment it was already 1 am and the bar was closing. So we went out and said goodbye to the girl. But i will meet her again somewhere.

After the the three of us went to the square, were me and Kenneth are sleeping. Had another two bottles of wine and talked on more serious topics. Mostly around life.
Then at 4 am it was time to go to sleep.

Today in the morning (or for you it is noon) we had our morning coffee at one bar, then bought some food from the supermarket and had our breakfast.
After that we came here to Starbucks to check the map and now I'm writing the blog.
But even walking into Starbucks and the reaction people gave was very new for him.
Me and my friend are walking into Starbucks and I'm starting to put my bag away. My friend says, "Mike, absolutely everybody are looking us". And i just looked him even without turning around to see if it was happening. And i just said to him, "Yeah, i can imagine that, its normal"

So i say hi to everybody who are currently in Starbucks and are reading my blog here.

But right now we are going to buy some food and then we start walking towards Benidorm.
Its 140 km,  we have 30 euros and theres crazy guys. So its going to be fun.

So far 2931 km.

Crazy Estonians

Well Wednesday night was a bit boring.
I tried to earn some money but still the same old story - disaster. And two Estonians who i met were also tired. But luckily for me there is more than two of them here and i got together with the third one as well. So we drank few bottles of beer, walked around the city and were talking with random people. After that we went to a square were my Argentinian host was and i went to his place again.

Thursday was already better. I slept until 3 pm again and visited Internet cafe. After i earned some money and surprisingly it was a bit better. Then around 9 pm i got together with Estonians and drank beer again. But this time a bit more than usually. Then they got tired because they had been up since 6 am.
I returned to one of the main squares were was my Argentinian friend. Like I've told you before he is a juggler. And every Thursday night, a group of jugglers get together, practice and drink together.
So in that evening we had a truly multi cultural and national group. There was  people from Argentina, Spain, Portugal, Italy, France, chili, Brazil, Belgium, me from Estonia and even the Pakistani guy who always tried to sell beer for us.
I started talking with one Spanish girl and at one moment she asked whats my favorite drink. When i answered that its tequila she instantly grabbed my hand and dragged me to the closest bar. So we had some good tequila shots, after what we returned to the square and had some good time.

Friday was already an awesome day. After i left from my host place i went to my home bar again to have coffee. When i walked in, two girls from the states already noticed my sign and smiled. Well then i already knew that its just a matter of time before they come to talk with me (or if they had been too shy i would gone there myself). Then they started talking with me and they also asked if i make any friends on the road and i answer that i make a lot of friends. And they were a bit surprised about that. Then the best possible thing happened. First one regular walked in and gave me a greeting handshake and asked how I'm doing, then one worker walked in and the same happened and then the owner of the bar. But that's not the end yet. Ten seconds after that, my Estonian friends called me and said that they want to meet. This all happened in the course of one and a half minute and the girls were just speechless. I have to say that it felt damn good.
I got together with the Estonians and they had with them a lot of beer and sangria already. So we drank them on the square and we were just talking how much we don't miss Estonia. One of the lovely things about Spain is also that the alcohol is cheaper here than water and food.
For example i pay for 0,33 canned beer 16 cents in the supermarket. And one tomato or banana costs 22 cents in the supermarket. But this is just one small reason why we love Spain so much.
And then the British girls messaged me and i called back. Then we made plans to get together in the night and have a little party. So the plan for us guys was clear. To stop drinking, get sober and eat something.

Before we get to the evening i will give you some photos from Valencia.

In the evening we met again and had little bit of sangria just to get a good mood before we meet the girls. Unfortunately the weather wasn't the best in the evening. It was very windy with a little bit of rain. And when we got together with the girls they were a bit disappointed that we are going to drink outside. Actually even so disappointed that at first they said that they are just going to stay for 10 minutes. But then with my sad face and puppy eyes i was able to change their mind. At first they said that they are going to have just one drink with us.
Then at one moment one Spanish guy came to talk with us. But unfortunately by that time the Estonian who speaks Spanish was way too drunk already. So we got a joke that our translator is drunk and is not able to translate. And then he decided that its a good idea to go home before anything else happens.
We actually had so good time together that the girls stayed longer than they planned and their drink lasted very long. Then at one moment the girls went home as well and there was only me and one other Estonian. The last thing both of us remember is that we were both looking towards the bottle and saying that we still have little bit left.
We both have no idea what happened but i woke up in the Estonians place. But that's not the mind puzzeling part. At one moment he came to me and said that he had a bag full of tomato's in his bag. And by this time we don't know from where or how we got them.

Saturday was actually not so good day for me. In the morning when i woke up i said to guys that my mouth is very dry and please bring me some liquid. They brought me a six pack of beers. So you know where that is going.
Later i went out and had two more beers. Then while i was heading to the supermarket to get some food. Then i saw the girls again and even they said that i smell like alcohol. But they were still smiling and happy to see me. I was also happy to see them but it wasn't something i wished to happen at that time.
At some moment i got sober and went to earn some money but just for 15 minutes. Then the Estonians called and wanted to meet again. So we drank rum, beer and sangria again. Until one moment we went to their place were we kept on drinking until we were so tired that we went to sleep.

Sunday much happened actually. In the morning Estonians gave me few beers before i was leaving. I went to a park to drink beer. Had another good think about my life, poored away all the alcohol that i still had ( I have been actually doing that a lot in the recent months) and went to sleep.
I slept until 6 pm and then went to Internet cafe. After that the Estonians already called and we met again. But this time all of us had pretty much enough from alcohol and just had few small beers.
And my Argentinian host was back so i went to sleep in his place.

Monday was a very special day. In the morning my best friend called me and said that he will be in Valencia in the next 7 hours. So i went to Internet cafe and just killed time by walking around the city until he arrived. Then i went to the bus station to pick him up. After that i took him to the supermarket to show him the amazing cheap prices and his jaw dropped when he saw the alcohol prices. Then he bought a twelve pack for 2 euros and 80 cents and we started drinking and catching up.
Later in the evening we got together with other Estonians and one Italian girl as well and had a good night again. But we slept outside because i didn't knew anybody who could host us both. But he was still happy.

And now today. We had a good breakfast together that lasted for two hours.

While we were having our breakfast the police joined with us as well. They told us that in Spain its forbidden to carry any type of knife with you. And honestly i wouldn't surprise if with that they also mean a wooden butter knife.
And after that I've been working on my blog post.

Today we will get together with the British girls and maybe have some drinks as well. And then we will leave tomorrow. And yes he is starting to walk with me as well.

So far 2931 km.
