About me

Who am I? 

I am crazy, that's what most people have told me. My name is Mihkel but for everybody who is not from Estonia I'm Michael or Mike. I am nineteen years old and I'm from Estonia.
I like to do spontaneous decisions and to enjoy life in everyway and everywhere i can and sometimes take challenges. Perhaps that's why some call me crazy/mad.

What am I doing?

On 20th march 2014 I started walking from a farm near Palermo with 25 € in my pocket and with very basic camping equipment. My plan is to walk 5000 km (3107 miles) along the coast line of South-Europe. I don't have a time limit or schedule and i don't know exactly when i will finish, but i think it should be in spring 2015.

This is the approximate walking route for 5000 km.

I do all this step by step. Sometimes i do stops in the cities just because i found nice people there with who i like to hang out.
Sometimes i stop in the cities because i like the city. Sometimes i stop in the cities because i have to earn some money. And often i stop because of all three of these reasons. And when i feel that its time to go i start walking again.

Sometimes i do use transport when i stay in the cites and somebody offers a place to sleep or invites me somewhere. And i don't swim with my equipment so once i used a ferry.
But i don't count in these kilometers just like i don't count the walking kilometers when i stay in the city.

And i keep a blog so everybody could follow my journey.

Why am I doing this?

If you have been speaking with me and asked this question from me, you probably heard the answer "Just for experience!" or 'Why not?'.
But the real story is a bit more complicated.
It all started when i was living and working near Palermo in a farm. I saw Christoph Rehages video on YouTube where he walked across China and took a selfie every day.
I saw it as a way out of a normal life, as a chance to get time for my thoughts, to clear out my mind and figure out what i really want to do with my life.
And there is also the possibility to travel, to see new places, to meet different people and to experience new things.
